Below are rending of an initial concept for the staircase tower. The thought is to use folded, perforated metal as a sculptural piece.
In this concept, the outer rail is clean and simple, transparent glass. The center rail is a folded ‘origami’ sculpture that grows out of the basement and gradually becomes more massive before reaching upwards toward the skylight at the roof level. Light from the skylight above ifs filtered through the panels to cast a fluid movement across the walls of the staircase tower throughout the day
